Connection Window
The Connection Window displays devices detected or configured by Total Control and provides the controls used to establish or manage their connections.
- Device List — Displays available devices and their current connection status.
- Connect — Connects an individual available device.
- Connect All — Connects all available devices currently listed.
- Connect New Device — Opens the Connect New Device window to add a device using USB, TCP/IP, Easy Connect, Emulator, Mirror, or other supported connection methods.
- Device Options (...) — Opens additional connection-related functions for an individual device.
- Connection Failure Indicator — A failed USB connection can display a warning or control that allows the USB connection to be reset without physically unplugging and reconnecting the cable. If multiple USB connections fail, Total Control can provide a control to reset the failed connections together.
- USB Connection Diagnostic — Opens the USB diagnostic tool for troubleshooting connection problems. Its output can be copied for troubleshooting or support.
- Connection Error Information — Connection-related failures, such as failure of the mobile service to start, can be reported directly in the Connection Window.
- License Device Limit — The number of devices shown or available in the Connection Window is controlled by the licensed device capacity.
Total Control can manage up to 100 devices, depending on the purchased license and available PC and network resources.
Connect New Device
The Connect New Device window is used to add devices that are not already available in the Connection Window.
USB
- USB — Connects an Android device directly to the PC and performs the initial setup required for Total Control to access and control the device.
- USB Debugging — Total Control guides users through enabling Android USB debugging when required.
- Automatic Detection — Connected USB devices are detected automatically and added to the connection process.
- Initial Permission Setup — USB/ADB is commonly used to grant the permissions and install the components required for later Total Control operation.
- USB Diagnostic — Connection problems can be investigated using the USB Connection Diagnostic tool.
TCP/IP
- TCP/IP — Connects devices through an IP network using WiFi, Ethernet, VPN, or another reachable network connection.
- QR Code — A device can scan the QR code displayed by Total Control to establish the network connection.
- More Options / IP Address — Users can manually enter the device IP address when automatic discovery is not appropriate.
- Password — An optional password can authorize the connection without requiring confirmation on the Android device; otherwise the user confirms the connection on the device.
- Remote Networks — TCP/IP devices can also be connected across other reachable networks, including VPN connections, when routing and network configuration permit it.
- USB and TCP/IP Together — USB and TCP/IP devices can be used together, which is useful for larger multi-device installations where practical PC USB capacity is reached.
Easy Connect
Easy Connect simplifies multi-device TCP/IP setup by automatically discovering Total Control devices on the same local network.
- Password-Based Discovery — The user enters a password in Total Control; devices on the LAN configured with the same password respond with their device name and IP address. Devices using other passwords are ignored.
- Connect Discovered Devices — Matching devices are displayed in a list and can be connected together.
- Device Groups — Multiple groups can use different passwords, allowing one group of devices at a time to be discovered and added.
- USB Devices Ignored — Devices already connected through USB are excluded from Easy Connect discovery.
- TC Connect Integration — TC Connect can assist with configuring multiple devices, including passwords and IP information.
Emulator
- Emulator — Connects supported Android emulators using their IP address and port number.
- Supported Emulators — Supported targets include BlueStacks, Android-x86, LDPlayer, and MuMu Player.
- Connection Result — After a successful emulator connection, the emulator is added to the normal Connection Window.
- Connection Failure — If the connection fails, verify that the emulator is running and that the IP address and port are correct.
Mirror
- Mirror — Connects a device for screen display when device control is not required.
- QR Code Connection — The Android device can scan a QR code to establish the projection connection.
- Display Only — Mirror, previously referred to as Projection in older versions, displays the Android screen without providing the normal device-control functions.
